In 2021, the European Commission launched the Gateway Global Investment Strategy that aims to address the infrastructure needs of partner countries, with innovative and quality solutions, creating at the same time local added value and promoting economic growth, employment and social cohesion. During the III UE-Celac Summit, held in July 2023, the leaders of both regions reaffirmed their commitment to reinforce the Birregional Association, recognizing the importance of the Global Gateway investment agenda. The general objective of this action is to contribute to the implementation of sustainable and transformative investments of European interest in Guatemala, within the framework of the Gateway Global Investment Agenda, ensuring its alignment with the strategic priorities of the country and promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
